In production we use li-on batteries 18650, 21700, Tesla 4680, lifepo4 batteries 26700, 32700,33140, as well as Li-Pol cells of NMC cell.

Each battery cell used has specific features - for example, LiFePo4 have more charge-discharge cycles, higher capacity and longer calendar life, while costing more and having more weight, and LiNCA have a good capacity and have a long calendar life, but small current.

Due to the complexity of the tasks performed and the use of rechargeable batteries in difficult conditions - the requirements for the characteristics of the battery for UAV, very strict, namely - significant restrictions on the weight of the battery assembly, energy density (WH/kg), size, discharge current, short-term current.

For this reason we can use only high-capacity, but at the same time lightweight battery cells, such as for example Li-Pol cells NMC 811, of course it is possible to use other cells such as Li-on 18650, 21700, but only if their use will correspond to the technical specifications. Techmake Laboratory develops and manufactures batteries for household appliances (robot hoovers, handheld hoovers), medical equipment and handheld cordless power tools.

Such manufacturers as Xiaomi, Dreame, Roidmi, Dyson, Tefal, Miele, Irobot, Electrolux, Aeg, Metabo, Makita use li-on batteries in their devices. The service life of such batteries is usually 1000-1500 charge cycles. After reaching the maximum values, the battery capacity drops to 50-80 per cent of the declared capacity, it becomes inconvenient to use the device, the functionality of household appliances drops. Moreover, according to the standards of some major manufacturers, a battery with a capacity below 70 per cent of the declared capacity is considered unsuitable for further use.

According to Techmake Lab experience - batteries for household appliances are usually in a special ‘risk zone’, because the charge/discharge cycle is spontaneous, often not intended chargers are used, and the household appliances are used in conditions not described in the instructions.

Warehouse equipment is one area where batteries are used quite extensively. As a rule, all electric warehouse vehicles use special batteries.
These batteries are called traction batteries, as opposed to starter batteries for cars.

The principle of operation of these two types is different - a strattera battery delivers a high current (from 250 to 1000A) to start the engine for a short time; traction batteries are essentially an ‘engine’ itself, i.e. they deliver a lower current (from 30 to 300A), but for a long time. Therefore, there are several key differences characteristic for traction batteries:
- low sensitivity of deep discharge, i.e. the possibility of discharging almost to zero;
- resistance to high and low temperatures;
- a fairly low dependence on serviceability (for example, traction batteries (unlike starting batteries) a few weeks idle for several weeks, practically do not lose their basic characteristics);
Traction batteries are widely used in forklifts (electric lift trucks), stackers (self-propelled electric stackers) and electric trucks, and less frequently in reach trucks and scissor lifts or mast lifts.
Today, AGM technology - with electrolyte filled in porous filler (glass fibre) and GEL technology - gel technology with electrolyte in the form of a gel - are increasingly used for storage technology (and in general for traction batteries).

Battery capacitiesLithium-ion Lithium-ion batteries (Li-ion) are the most common type of rechargeable batteries today. The widest sphere of use - household appliances, power tools of different types, as well as medical equipment, means of electric transportation.
The positive features of Li-Ion batteries, due to which they have gained such popularity, can be attributed to:
high energy density;
no (or extremely low) memory effect;
the possibility to use for the production of batteries of any size;
At the same time, the negative features can be attributed to the “sensitivity” of Li-Ion batteries to overheating (this is often encountered when trying to engage in production “on their knees”, and soldering batteries with an ordinary soldering iron).batteries (Li-Ion).

Another feature noted by TechMake Lab specialists is that when buying Li-Ion batteries on your own and not regularly, you encounter several problems, namely, overpaying “for the brand”. Don’t believe it? Take an expensive Li-Ion battery assembly and remove the heat shrink - and it will become clear that ⅘ of the price was paid “for the brand”. Another equally important problem is the inconsistency of characteristics - the difference in resistance and voltage in one batch of batteries.

To solve these problems, our company has built proven logistics and organized battery calibration immediately after receipt.

The guarantee of the TechMake Lab control service is the absence of voltage differences and a resistance difference of no more than 2-3 mOhm within a batch. This standard is approved and is necessary when working with any batteries.

Lithium iron phosphate batteries (LiFePo4).

In domestic and industrial use, the most common are different types of Li-ion batteries, the second most popular are lithium-iron-phosphate cells (Lifepo4).
Such batteries are more resistant to overcharging, short circuits and other emergency situations; have a large number of charge-discharge cycles (more than 2000);
When charging, it is worth using special chargers with the designation of the final voltage, chargers for lithium batteries of other types are not suitable, since LiFePo4 use a lower operating voltage.
Another feature of LFP batteries is an increased range of operating temperatures (-30 ° C ... + 50 ° C).
The disadvantages of such batteries include reduced energy capacity (approximately 14% less than Li-Ion batteries) and greater weight, so Lifepo is not used in situations where weight and size play a primary role.

Lithium-polymer batteries (Li-Pol)

It is believed that Li-Pol batteries are an improved model of Li-Ion batteries, where a gel-like electrolyte is used as an electrolyte - a polymer material, which allows making batteries of different shapes, the most common rectangular shape or in the form of plates (for example, a battery in a cell phone). Therefore, the main difference of a lithium-polymer battery is its flexible shape and the absence of a rigid case, due to which this type of battery is noticeably lighter, for example, compared to a Li-Ion analogue, the weight is 20% less.

In addition, they discharge slowly, they can be very thin, while having a high voltage.
The negative characteristics of Li-Pol batteries include the “memory effect”, a fairly rapid loss of maximum capacity - on average, the effective capacity of lithium-ion batteries decreases to 80% after 500-1000 charge / discharge cycles, but the results in Li-Pol will be worse, and finally, a higher cost of battery production. To summarize, we can assume that the main driver for mass production and use of lithium-polymer batteries is the explosive growth of gadget production, which is where there are two features that allow the use of Li-Pol elements - the low price component of this type of battery in the overall price of the device and the variety of shapes and sizes that can be given to a polymer battery.
